VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a psychologist with experience and interest in treatment of substance use disorders and PTSD, in general outpatient clinics at the VA CT Healthcare System. This position includes an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Candidates must have clear clinical expertise and extensive training experience in treating substance use disorders and PTSD, and candidates also must have a track record of research in the area of psychosis, mood disorders or related illnesses.
Clinical work will include work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to care for individuals with substance use disorders and PTSD. Clinical work will include behavioral treatments such as group-, individual-, couples-, and/or hospital-based interventions using empirically-supported interventions. Candidates should have extensive training in evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders (e.g., cognitive behavior therapy) and PTSD (e.g., cognitive processing therapy).
The individual will also be responsible for teaching residents, medical students and other trainees, and will be responsible for initiating scholarly work related to teaching or research. Research conducted within this position may involve a wide array of topics broadly focused on substance use disorders and PTSD, including but not limited to the role of sex differences in the etiology and treatment of such disorders and the role of negative affect and stress-reactivity in substance use disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain research grant funding, conduct independent research, properly manage and administer projects, and collaborate with faculty within VA Connecticut Healthcare System and the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
Applicants must be licensed in psychology, legally employable, and meet all qualification standards for psychologists within the VA. Preference will be given to applicants who have relevant clinical experience in treating this population, in treating veterans and a history of academic productivity including publications and be in a position to initiate and produce scholarly work.
