Assistant Professor

Oregon Institute of Technology invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track appointment (assistant professor).Our new league will teach a variety of undergraduate courses in our Bachelors of Science in Applied Psychology program. Potential courses include introductory psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, research methods, health psychology, and substance use/psychopharmacology. Oregon Tech seeks an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member who can bring knowledge, experience and vision to this new program.

Qualified candidates will have:

·         Doctorate in Psychology. ABD candidates will be considered. Successful degree completion prior to January 1, 2019 required for reappointment.

 

Our program has strong relationships with local community partners in the mental and behavioral health field. Thus, the successful candidate will network with community partners on a variety of fronts, including the entification and development of collaborative, sponsored projects that support the applied nature of our program. We are strongly committed to supporting the mental and behavioral health workforce development needs, both in our rural community and across Oregon.

 

Our program has a history of sponsored project work with the Department of Human Services: Child Welfare and Self-Sufficiency. We seek a league to ect and manage our "JOBS" program, an ongoing program sponsored by DHS. This role receives a 0.25fte release from teaching workload and consists of providing weekly group trainings for undergraduate students who serve as JOB coaches, meeting with JOB coaches individually to supervise their cases, and meeting with DHS for case staffing. This program uses motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and behavior modification to help participants overcome barriers and develop the life skills and job skills necessary to secure unsubsidized employment. Scholarly dissemination based on project activities and outcomes is expected.

 

In this position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support student clubs, activities, and travel with students to regional conferences as they present the results of their applied research projects. Our program is seeking enrollment growth, thus there will be opportunities to engage in program marketing and student recruitment activities.

 

Service to the department, institution, and community are highly valued at Oregon Tech and expected of all tenure track faculty. Professional development and creative works are also expected of tenure track faculty at Oregon Tech.

 

Oregon Tech is the only accredited public polytechnic university in the Pacific Northwest. Located in southern Oregon, the 300 - acre campus is on the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains, overlooking scenic Upper Klamath Lake.
