The Department of Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for a tenure-track position in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology at the Assistant Professor rank to begin August 2019.
The Psychology Department has a doctoral program in Applied Social and Organizational Psychology (ASOP) and a terminal master’s program in I/O psychology. Both programs are highly selective, research-intensive, and comprise 6-7 students per year across the two programs combined. We are seeking an outstanding scholar to complement the current faculty, mentor doctoral and master’s students, and contribute to the success and growth of our programs. The area of specialization is open, but candidates who will create synergistic collaborations within the program and department will be given strongest consideration. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with evidence of potential to a) develop and maintain a productive, coherent, research program that is nationally recognized via high-quality peer-reviewed publications, external funding, and professional presentations; b) satisfactorily teach and mentor diverse graduate and undergraduate students; and c) contribute to and participate in the mission of the programs and department. The candidate would be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the ASOP and I/O curricula (e.g., staffing, organizational psychology, courses within their area of expertise) and/or research methods/statistics. Current teaching load for tenured faculty is 2 courses per semester. A reduced pre-tenure teaching load and competitive salary and startup funds are provided.
The Department has 28 full-time faculty, 800 undergraduate majors, and approximately 60 graduate students enrolled in programs in I/O (M.S.), ASOP (Ph.D.), Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.), and Addiction Neuroscience (Ph.D.). Additional information about the department and ASOP and I/O programs may be found at www.psychology.iupui.edu. IUPUI was ranked 20th in a list of “Most Innovative Schools” and in the Top 200 “National Universities” by U.S. News and World Report in 2018 and is a six-time recipient of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award by Insight into Diversity. IUPUI is a campus renowned for service learning, civic engagement, and health sciences research. It is Indiana's premier urban public research institution, with more than 200 degree programs enrolling approximately 30,000 students (www.iupui.edu). IUPUI is located near downtown Indianapolis, the 16th largest city in the United States. The city uniquely combines the cultural amenities of urban life with the residential qualities of smaller communities and is highly affordable. As the major center for industry and government within the state, Indianapolis has a wide variety of research and training sites.
