Assistant Professor position in Social Psychology. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2019. In addition to developing external funding to support research endeavors, candidates will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and provide service to the University, Department and professional organizations.
We are seeking a candidate who is conducting cutting-edge research in any area of social psychology, including, but not limited to, attitudes, social cognition, emotion, motivation, culture, interpersonal processes, relationships, stereotyping and prejudice, judgment and decision making, intervention science, and individual differences. Candidates should have proven success, as measured by a strong publication record. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in psychology, ideally introduction to social psychology, as well as undergraduate and graduate seminars. Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in Psychology or a relevant field by May 2019 and must hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment.
The Department of Psychology has had a strong social psychology program for many years and the candidate is expected to be a central member of this program. In addition, there are faculty with interests in social psychology in several other schools in the University, including the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, the Curry School of Education, the Darden School of Business, the McIntire School of Commerce, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of Architecture. There are ample opportunities for collaboration with faculty in other departments and schools.
