Assistant Professor in Psychopathology and Clinical Science

The Department of Psychology at Western University invites applications from exceptional researchers to fill a full-time academic position in the area of Psychopathology and Clinical Science.  This faculty position will contribute to our accredited graduate training in Clinical Psychology, and is part of an intensive ongoing recruitment effort of a cluster of at least six faculty members in the areas of social, clinical, and industrial/organizational psychology over a two-year period. The position will be probationary (tenure track) at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Western’s Department of Psychology is consistently ranked as one of the top psychology departments in Canada and internationally. We are a research-intensive department with a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education, and have outstanding research facilities. We invite you to visit our website: www.psychology.uwo.ca. The university campus is in London, Ontario, a thriving city of 400,000 people located midway between Toronto and Detroit. With parks, river valleys, tree-lined streets, and bicycle paths, London is known as the “Forest City” and boasts galleries, theatre, music and sporting events, and many opportunities for outdoor activities.

We seek to hire faculty members whose research will help define the future of clinical science, and who are committed to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education. Successful applicants must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate collegiality in a comprehensive psychology department.

Outstanding researchers in any area of clinical psychology are invited to apply, but preference will be given to those studying developmental mechanisms of psychopathology in children and youth. Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of application (or have completed all doctoral requirements except an internship/residency that is in progress at the time of application).  Qualified applicants must be internationally recognized for research excellence in psychopathology in a research area that complements and does not duplicate existing research strength in the department. Successful candidates must have demonstrated a superior research record of publishing in the highest quality journals, evidence of potential for future research funding success, and evidence of excellence in supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, innovative, and externally funded research program, and to teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate student trainees. Finally, successful candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as part of their role in Clinical Psychology graduate training.

With annual research funding exceeding $220 million, and an international reputation for success, Western ranks as one of Canada’s top research-intensive universities. Our research excellence expands knowledge and drives discovery with real-world application. Western also provides an exceptional employment experience, offering competitive salaries, a wide range of employment opportunities and one of Canada’s most beautiful campuses.
