The Psychological and Counseling Services program in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems (EPLS) invites applications for a tenure-earning assistant professor position. The faculty member’s primary contribution will be to the APA-accredited Combined Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. We are seeking an outstanding candidate with training in and professional identification with the professional specialty of counseling psychology, and who has a demonstrated commitment to diversity. The position will involve:
- Research/scholarship in a substantive area related to counseling psychology (e.g., diversity), preferably with the potential for external funding (e.g., addictions, trauma)
- Graduate teaching (e.g., assessment/interventions for diverse client groups; substance abuse/addictions)
- Supervision of doctoral students in clinical practicum settings
- Serving on graduate student supervisory committees and mentoring student research
- Serving on program, departmental, and college committees
- Program/curriculum development/evaluation of the APA-accredited doctoral program
Candidates for this position should have an earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program with a PhD in counseling psychology. ABDs may be considered if the PhD will be earned by the starting date. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to research/scholarship, teaching, supervision, program development, the integration of science and practice, and serving as a professional role model. Current licensure as a psychologist or license-eligibility as a psychologist in Florida is required. Candidates knowledgeable about counseling psychology, APA-accreditation operating procedures, and familiar with national training issues in professional psychology are encouraged to apply.
This is a nine-month, tenure earning position at the assistant professor rank, with possible summer employment. There is the opportunity in the future for assuming a leadership role in the program, one of only three APA-accredited combined counseling psychology and school psychology doctoral programs in the country.
