Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position

The Counseling Psychology Program in the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall semester 2019 (August 26th, 2019). We will consider applicants with a wide range of research interests including, but not limited to, vocational/career counseling, counseling process and outcome, physical and mental health disparities, and health psychology, with a preference for scholars whose research complements that of the existing faculty in the Counseling Psychology Program and connects with research in other areas in the Psychology Department. We encourage applications from individuals whose research includes multiple methods and levels of analysis and whose teaching and scholarship advances an understanding of cultural and individual diversity in society (e.g., diversity related to age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status). Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate-level teaching. The primary appointment will be in our Counseling Psychology program with possible secondary cross-affiliation with other departmental areas.
The appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year (late-August to late-May), and will be made at rank of tenure-track assistant professor. Salary and start-up packages are competitive.
Applications are encouraged from graduates with a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field with preference for candidates with degrees from APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Ph.D. programs. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, evidence of research ability, ability to make an interdisciplinary contribution to the University’s research mission, commitment to high-quality classroom instruction and student mentoring, and the strength of recommendations. A successful candidate's dossier will demonstrate scholarly distinction, a record of publications, and teaching commitment.
Faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research; develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor graduate students; and contribute service to the department, college, university, and profession that is appropriate for their rank.
