The University of Rhode Island’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Clinical Psychology program. The position is at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Psychopathology. The position will be an academic year appointment with an expected start date of August 2020. The Department is located within the recently formed College of Health Sciences, which is part of the University’s Academic Health Collaborative along with the colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing, and the Institute for Integrated Health and Innovation. The Psychology Department is recognized for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and for our commitment to diversity. Our Department has approximately 800 undergraduates, 80 graduate students, and 30 faculty, with an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology as well as a doctoral program in Behavioral Science. The successful candidate is expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, with some potentially online, in areas related to psychopathology; seek external funding that will support productive research; mentor graduate and undergraduate students; and provide service to campus and non-campus communities. We are interested in extending our expertise in psychopathology with focus in cultural factors in mental health; cultural adaptations of assessment, prevention, or intervention; and/or health and mental health disparities in marginalized communities, but are open to applicants with expertise in other areas related to psychopathology. Candidates are expected to demonstrate both commitment and contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
