Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology

Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in clinical psychology who will contribute to the department’s research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service missions. Our department includes faculty with nationally funded research programs focused on minority populations, including Latino, LGBTQ, refugee populations, and those with cognitive dysfunction, so collaboration and support for diversity science is strong. We are seeking a colleague who will make contributions to coverage of diversity in the research and clinical training experiences we offer in our clinical psychology doctoral program. We are primarily interested in applicants whose faculty interests include a focus on diversity, minority health/mental health, and/or African-American mental health. Outside of the Psychology Department, this position affords opportunities to collaborate with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, UC College of Medicine, and local community agencies.

The ideal applicant will have an established publication record and ability to secure external funding in a programmatic area of research. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, mentor undergraduate and doctoral student research, provide clinical supervision of doctoral students in our department’s Behavioral Health Center, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and make service contributions to the department, the university, and the profession.

Minimum Requirements: for this position include completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA-accredited program, completion of an APA accredited internship, and license eligibility as a psychologist in Ohio. Qualified applicants will be evaluated on their a) training and experience in clinical psychology, b) program of research, including publication record and ability to obtain extramural funding, c) potential to provide high-quality culturally competent clinical supervision, d) record of teaching and mentorship excellence, in particular with underrepresented minority students.

UC’s campus is located in urban Cincinnati, a vibrant, racially diverse city with an active arts scene, national sports teams, an abundance of local restaurants, high quality school systems, and other opportunities for satisfying work/life balance. The University of Cincinnati strives to provide a supportive environment for all faculty. For example, we have an active Black Faculty Association, Latino Faculty Association, and LGBTQ faculty association. In addition, the University of Cincinnati has an institutional membership to the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Candidates must apply online at http://bit.ly/2nzk2qX. Applicants must include with their online application a current curriculum vitae and a cover letter not to exceed three pages that includes a description of: (a) research interests, (b) teaching experiences, (c) experiences to support an ability to provide clinical supervision, including a description of readiness to apply for Ohio licensure as a Psychologist, and (d) the names, titles, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of at least three but no more than five professional references. Please use the additional documents feature for these attachments. In addition, you will be asked to upload a separate one-page statement describing your commitment to diversity. Please address any questions regarding this search to Farrah Jacquez at farrah.jacquez@uc.edu.

We will begin reviewing applications immediately, and continue to accept and review applications until the position has been filled.

As a UC employee, and an employee of an Ohio public institution, if hired you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system, other than contributions to Medicare.
