Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in Social Psychology


Position Description

The successful candidate will be expected to 1) develop and maintain an active research program in the area of Social Psychology, broadly construed; 2) involve undergraduate and graduate students in research; 3) actively seek and maintain external funding; 4) teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses; and 5) participate in service as a good departmental citizen.

Founded in 1899, Texas State University is among the largest universities in Texas with an enrollment of 38,666 students. Designated an Emerging Research University by the State of Texas, Texas State is classified under "Doctoral Universities: Higher Research Activity," the second-highest designation for research institutions under the Carnegie classification system.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Social Psychology or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

To be eligible for hire at an advanced rank the candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and based on university and department established standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Assistant Professor
1) Record of excellence in scholarly publications. All areas of specialization in Social Psychology will be considered.
2) Involvement of undergraduate and graduate students in research
3) Evidence of potential for securing external research funding.
4) Evidence of teaching effectiveness

Associate Professor or Professor
1) Record of excellence in scholarly publications. All areas of specialization in Social Psychology will be considered.

4) Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
