McLean Hospital is seeking to fill a full-time Assistant in Psychology (under clinical supervision) position in the Pathways Academy. The clinician works closely with other members of the clinical staff to provide a quality treatment experience for the patient population. The clinician works with patients to provide emotional support and help to develop the tools needed for emotional management. The position offers ongoing opportunities for collaboration and learning both within the unit setting and within the larger hospital setting. This position requires flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills.
Principal duties and responsibilities include working directly (individual/group format) with patients to provide emotional support; helping patients learn the needed tools to manage emotional state; collaborating with other professional staff to develop treatment plans as needed; communicating information with staff and families as needed, contributing to team evaluation of patients and share findings; and, providing consultation to staff as needed.
By meeting HMS teaching responsibilities and upon licensure, the candidate will be proposed for a concurrent academic appointment as an Instructor in Psychology, prior to licensure the academic appointment will be as a Clinical Fellow in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and be eligible for licensure in Massachusetts. Qualified women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
