Your leadership and expertise will have a positive impact on the mental health, wellness and academic success of all students. Responsibilities include administrative tasks, and clinical commitments such as confidential counseling and crisis intervention services, outreach and programming for the well-being of SUNY Cortland's students. This is a full-time, full-year position.

 

 

Success in this position requires:

  • Awareness of current legal issues, ethical standards & best practices relating to mental health care delivery;
  • Commitment to availability for occasional evening and/or weekend work, primarily to support campus outreach programs and/or emergency response protocols
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and handle spontaneous re-prioritization of work demands
  • Desire and commitment to working with a diverse student population and demonstrated multicultural competence
  • Ability and desire to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with on-campus departments, professionals and student groups or organizations that promote and provide programming to support student success
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of supervision principles
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills of time-limited psychotherapy

 


 

Required Minimum Qualifications include:

  • An earned doctorate degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, social work, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience, with demonstrated progressive administrative or leadership experience
  • NY State professional license to practice in the field of mental health and use a professional title in New York State or licensed in another state and eligible for NY State license within 6 months of hire
  • Evidence of ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in time-limited psychotherapy
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention and consultation
  • Demonstrated experience in providing outreach to campus communities

 

  

Preference will be given for:

  • An earned doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program including a completed internship
  • One year, full-time equivalent, APA-accredited internship in a college counseling center
  • Licensed as a psychologist in New York State
  • Recent experience working in a college counseling center
  • Expertise in providing clinical supervision or expertise in one of the following areas: eating disorders, mental health administration, counseling multicultural and diverse populations, or sexual assault trauma
  • Experience working closely with individuals from under-represented minority (URM) and other under-represented identity groups
  • Experience in providing outreach to traditionally under-served and vulnerable populations
  • Experience in assessment, computer literacy or data analysis
