Assistant Clinical Director/Director of Clinical Training

Potomac Behavioral Solutions ( is located in Arlington, VA and specializes in evidence-based treatment of eating, anxiety, and personality disorders. Our site specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), and Maudsley Family Based Treatment (FBT). PBS offers services to children, adolescents, and adults. Our staff includes a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers, and dietitians.

PBS is recruiting a licensed doctoral-level clinician to fulfill the role of Assistant Clinical Director/Director of Clinical Training.

  • The Assistant Clinical Director/Director of Clinical Training, alongside the Clinical Director, coordinates, monitors, and supervises the activities of a multidisciplinary team including office staff, dietitians, externs, interns, post-doctoral students, psychologists and psychiatrists.

  • Provide supervision to pre-licensed staff

  • Will develop and recommend new or revised program goals and objectives.

  • Will oversee daily operations and coordinates activities of programming while determining priorities.

  • Carries an individual caseload, seeing patients and leading groups.

  • A successful applicant will have demonstrated experience working with anxiety and eating disorders.

  • Must be proficient in CBT, DBT, and exposure-based interventions.

  • Will oversee and develop programs to meet all best practice and accreditation requirements while serving the client at the highest level.

  • Will exemplify PBS mission and goals in supervision

  • Will work closely with PBS Leadership team to communicate needs, goals, and challenges

  • Responsible for ensuring that personal actions, and actions on behalf of the program, meets all ethical, legal, and risk requirements.

  • Responsible for regular on-call support.

  • Completes institutional paperwork for trainees

  • Interviews, evaluates, and selects externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows

  • Develops didactic opportunities for all pre-licensed trainees

  • Recruits new talent through educational and training opportunities at PBS

  • Ensures compliance to ADA, AMA, PA-C, MSW, etc. sponsorship requirements for CE presentations at PBS

  • Works with Leadership team to develop, coordinate, and market CE events at PBS

An ideal applicant will have excellent clinical skills and research interests. Our program is actively collecting research and outcome data on all of our programming.

Our providers have an opportunity to conduct individual, group, and family therapy. Applicants should have ample experience treating eating, anxiety/OCD, mood, and personality disorders (specifically Borderline Personality Disorder). The position is ideal for applicants with intermediate to advanced knowledge of evidence-based treatments including CBT, exposure-based techniques, and DBT used in the treatment of anxiety, eating, and personality disorders. Applicants should have demonstrated interest in being part of an adherent DBT treatment team which includes individual/group therapy, phone coaching and consultation teams. We also have psychological assessment opportunities and an OCD intensive program which allows therapists to work with a team of other providers to effectively address patient’s fear and anxiety.
