Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education

Become part of an educational program in the restructured College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling. We invite applications for a full time, tenure track faculty position in Counselor Education beginning January 2019. The Counselor Education program is CACREP accredited and offers Master's degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling.  Responsibilities include the administrative aspects of being program chair, curriculum and program development, student advisement, supervising student clinical practice, and teaching core graduate counseling courses. The candidate selected for this position will engage in scholarly and service activities consistent with the requirements of the College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling, collaborate with local community agencies, schools, and other stakeholders and actively pursue involvement in professional counseling organizations at the regional, state, and national levels.

 

Qualifications: 

Required:

        An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program.

        Experience in teaching graduate-level counseling and related courses

        Clinical supervision experience

        Potential to provide direction for the program including program assessment

        Commitment to being part of a Professional Learning Community within the University

        Potential of service and scholarship in the field

        Commitment to the goals of the University of Lynchburg's Office of Equity and Inclusion

        Candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University

 

Preferred:

        Professional counselor licensure or licensure eligibility in the Commonwealth of Virginia

        Experience with CACREP and CAEP accreditation

        Evidence of service and scholarship in the field
