Academic Therapy Publications (ATP) is a 50-year-old publisher of assessments administered by professionals in the fields of school psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, special education, among others. Popular assessments published by ATP include the Expressive and Receptive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Tests (EOWPVT/ROWPVT), Test of Auditory Processing Skills (TAPS), Receptive, Expressive, and Social Communication Assessment (RESCA), Motor-Free Visual Perception Test (MVPT), and Test of Visual-Perceptual Skills (TVPS).
ATP is looking for individuals with a master's degree or doctorate in either school psychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology, speech-language pathology, educational measurement (or similar field) who is interested in participating in developing and revising standardized, norm-referenced assessments in the K-12 special education area, primarily those used by school psychologists and speech-language pathologists.
The assessment project manager works with with ATP’s Research and Development group, along with the authors of the tests, to take an assessment through the various phases of the development process.The ability to do statistics is not required, however an understanding and appreciation of speech-language and school psychology fields, along with knowledge or experience in test development methods and the statistics used in these tests (Classical Test Theory and some Item Response Theory) is required. Preferred are applicants who have several years experience with standardized assessment in private practice or within the K-12 school system.
–serving as the in-house subject matter expert for the assessments under your supervision
–familiarity with the speech-language and school psychology fields and the assessments they administer
–participating in the data collection process
–participating in analysis of test items
–writing/editing select sections of the assessment manual
–aiding in the design of the test components
–communicating and working with test authors (psychologists, speech pathologists)
–aiding in the design of online versions of ATP tests
–interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
–the ability to work under publication deadlines (i.e., finish a task within a time frame)
–working both independently as well as withwith statisticians and test authors
–ability to work on multiple complex projects and prioritize to meet deadlines
–exhibiting at national and state conferences
