The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is recruiting for a Director of Behavioral Science: Psychiatrist, Psychologist (PhD, EdD), Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (DNP or DNSc), or Licensed Psychiatric Social Worker (DSW) for our Department of Comprehensive Dentistry.

This candidate will work collaboratively with dental faculty to sustain and foster a behavioral science curriculum for our 4-year DMD program. We seek a candidate whose experience, teaching, research, and/or community service has prepared them to engage with our academic and clinical missions.

Responsibilities

· Develop and integrate a 4 year behavioral science curriculum that aligns with the Commission on Dental Accreditation standards using innovative and engaging active learning methods in large and small group teaching

· Ongoing review of our behavioral science program outcomes in collaboration with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and DMD Curriculum Committee

· Participate as content expert for behavioral sciences teaching and work collaboratively with dental & biomedical sciences faculty to teach inter-professionally

· Collaborate with preclinical and clinical faculty to prepare students for the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations

· Consult with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Director of Quality Assurance regarding behavioral assessments and risk management

· Opportunity for educational research

Qualifications

· Advanced Mental Health Practitioner at the doctoral level or equivalent and licensed to practice at the time of university appointment.

· Experience: prior academic or clinical experience

· Teaching skills: course design, educational theory and practice, large and small group teaching, assessment design

· Demonstrated clinical, educational, and administrative skills with a strong commitment to an academic career as a clinician-educator.
