50% School Mental Health Counselor and Wellness Teacher


Job Summary:
Castilleja is seeking a part-time (20 hours), licensed therapist (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PhD, PsyD) with a strong understanding of pre-adolescent and adolescent girls to work across all grade levels (grades 6 through 12). This person would also teach 7th grade wellness class with a rotating weekly schedule. Hours will typically be noon to 4pm. However, hours may vary due to a weekly rotating schedule. This person will collaborate and consult with parents and faculty regarding student academic and emotional needs. This person will provide outside referral services to students in need of long-term treatment. This position will report to the Director of Counseling and Student Wellness.

Specific responsibilities will include:
1. Providing short-term personal counseling to Castilleja students; providing individual and group counseling sessions.
2. Assessing the psychological needs of students and developing an appropriate plan of intervention.
3. Providing solution-focused psychological services to students; assisting students with problem resolution, stress reduction, and communication skills.
4. Providing crisis intervention services to students and consulting with faculty and staff as needed.
5. Developing and maintaining confidential patient records in accordance with applicable standards of practice and federal and state laws and regulations.
6. Functioning as a professional liaison between Director of Counseling and Wellness and other community health services; facilitating transition from short-term counseling to longer-term psychological services; coordinating with community crisis intervention agencies and services, as needed.
7. Collaborating with Counseling and Wellness in the delivery of programs and services; assessing Student Learning Outcomes and implementing program improvements.
8. Teach 7th grade Wellness classes and following Castilleja’s Wellness Curriculum
9. Educating students and staff on the maintenance of psychological health and the minimization of emotional stress; may advise faculty and staff on best practices for supporting students with psychological issues.
10. Attending relevant meetings either on campus or in the community.

Requirements:
• Current California licensure as a therapist.
• At least 2 years prior clinical experience with adolescents and families, school experience strongly preferred.
• Teaching experience strongly preferred.|
• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to work with multiple constituents in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm composure.
